A man named William Thompson...

Newcastle Morning Herald, Friday k9th April, 1897.



On Wednesday a man named Wil-
liam Thompson, a mining contractor,
was proceeding from Mount Boppy
Hotel to Burra Burra copper mine
with three other gentlemen in a
double-seated buggy, when, owing to
a jolt, Thompson was thrown out and
received serious injuries. He was
taken to the Cobar Hospital and died
on the following morning. The de-
ceased was 47 years of age.

DEATH IN THE COBAR HOSPITAL. —A man named
William Thompson, aged 30, was admitted to the
Cohar Hospital on the 6th inst., suffering from
severe injuries to his neck. He lingered till the
following day, when he died. An imquiry into the
cause of dentil elicited the information that on the
5th inst. the deceased left Cobar for the Burra
copper mine by train. Arriving at Mount Boppy.
The services of a buggy were brought into requi-
sition to complete the journey. When three miles
had been traversed, the buggy jolted over a stone,
and Thompson was thrown out on to his head.
He was taken back to Mount Boppy, and on the
following day was conveyed to the hospital, where
he died as stated. Deceased had for some years
been a resident of Cobar, where his wife and family
now reside.
